I was talking to a friend about gay relationship Dynamics and said something about me not having sex with my future partner (whoever the poor human will be) and she was like "SOMEONE HAS TO BE THE BIG SPOON" and that's how I became comfortable with using top/bottom language again.

Gays of Waterfall, what is the good gay shit for today?

to all of the queer and lgbtq folks who have had their own identities used as an example of what is "ruining the lgbt community":

you deserve respect

you deserve representation

you deserve a welcoming place in the lgbtq community

and you are absolutely allowed to celebrate yourself

special reminder that nonbinary does not mean "neither a man or a woman", it means "outside of the gender binary" which can include being neither, can include being both, and can include being fluid between multiple identities

I'm curious, if you're LGBT+, what are song(s) that you associate with your identity?

For me, A Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley will always be my trans song. It feels less applicable now, but when I first came out and was just furious at everything, it really fit. My parents told me it was a phase and people online were telling me that I was attention-seeking and I didn't pass at all so I was always misgendered and the first thing that strangers knew about me was that I was trans and it just made me so mad. Things have gotten a lot better now and I don't feel so angry at the world for my trans identity, but it's still a song I associate completely with being trans. True Trans Soul Rebel by Against Me! tends to be my go-to trans song now. I still feel weird in my skin and I feel like I'm never going to find a partner with all of my shit and it makes me angry sometimes, but there's also a feeling of, "This is who I am and you can go fuck yourself if you want me to be different."

The song I associate with being gay is... kinda fucking weird. It's Planxty's version of The Bonny Light Horseman and it's from the Napoleonic Wars about a lover lamenting a dead soldier. I don't really know how to describe why I associate with it so much... I guess I kind of feel like I've lost a lot of my childhood and teenage experiences to being the combination of gay, trans, a-spec, and mentally ill because I haven't had a lot of experiences that other people have and I feel like I missed out on it. And the song is sung by a man (in this version) about a man, while also being a lament for what was lost.

I don't have a song for being demi yet, but that's a very recent development, so we'll get there.

I wrote more about myself than I intended to. I'd like to hear about your songs, though!!

black sheep boy by okkervil river..it has no correlation with trans identity but when i first heard there were lyrics that made me go oh? trans ?? specifically “i’m the familys unowned boy” and “if you love me let me live in peace” it’s a short simple song but it just makes me think of my own identity and relationship with my family this is home by cavetown has a big trans mood and i used to cry over it all the time when i was first figuring out who i was. i don’t know if it’s really about being trans and the singer never said anything about it but still a great song. he also has a song called dysphoria so
natblida -

It's more general, but the rendition of Katy Perry's Rise covered by Superfruit has definitely become an anthem for my unapologetic queerness over the years.  The lyrics make me want to cry, and they help remind me of the fact that no matter what the outside world throws at me, victory is in my veins.

Being told we’re secetly straight.

Being told we’re secretly gay.

Hello!

This blog is here to share scientific articles about transgender people. If you need sources to back up an argument, or if you just really like science, I got you. Let’s go share some truth.

Anyway, a trans man doesn't owe you his masculinity.

A trans woman, therefore, does not owe you her femininity.

And a non-binary person does not owe you their androgany.

Let people express themselves how they please regardless of gender
